This homemade cheeseburger pie is a savory, satisfying one-dish meal that perfectly captures the essence of a classic burger. Using seasoned ground beef, aged cheddar cheese, and a light, pillowy biscuit-style crust, this comforting bake provides a high-quality protein meal ideal for busy weeknights. It offers the familiar, hearty flavors of a backyard grill without the hassle, resulting in a golden-brown dish that is loved by both children and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450g) Ground Beef (85/15)
1 cup (115g) Shredded Aged Cheddar cheese
1 cup (240ml) Whole Milk
1/2 cup (60g) Biscuit Baking Mix
2 Large Eggs
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches a dark caramel color, ensuring deep flavor.
Drain the excess fat thoroughly from the beef to prevent a greasy crust.
Spread the browned beef evenly across the bottom of the prepared pie dish and sprinkle with the shredded cheddar cheese.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, baking mix, eggs, and smoked paprika until smooth.
Pour the batter mixture slowly and evenly over the beef and cheese layer.
Bake for 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
Allow the pie to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, grate your own cheddar cheese from a block rather than using pre-shredded varieties to ensure a better melt. Ensure all excess fat is drained from the beef, as this is critical for the biscuit leavening agents to expand properly during the baking process.
