A nutrient-dense, high-protein weeknight dinner that is both economical and quick to prepare. This classic stir fry features lean ground beef seared for flavor, combined with crisp-tender bell peppers and aromatic onions, all finished in a savory honey-soy glaze. Perfect for busy schedules when you want a professional-quality meal in under 20 minutes.
1 lb (450g) lean ground beef (90/10 ratio)
2 medium bell peppers, sliced into strips
1/2 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp (30ml) low-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp (15ml) honey
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp avocado oil
Prepare the bell peppers and onions by slicing them into uniform strips for even cooking.
Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
Add the lean ground beef to the hot pan, breaking it apart with a spatula and searing until well-browned.
Once the beef is browned, add the sliced onions and peppers to the skillet.
Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, keeping the vegetables tender-crisp.
Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture.
Toss everything together for 1-2 minutes until the sauce reduces and glazes the ingredients thoroughly.
Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Keep vegetables slightly firm to retain heat-sensitive nutrients and satisfy textural preference. Ensure the pan is very hot before adding the beef to achieve a proper Maillard reaction (browning).
