A rapid, high-protein skillet meal that leverages the Maillard reaction to create a deep, umami-rich stir fry. Featuring perfectly crisp-tender broccoli florets and savory ground beef, this dish uses a blanch-sauté technique to ensure vibrant color and texture. Finished with aromatic fresh ginger and toasted sesame oil, it is the perfect solution for a restaurant-quality dinner prepared in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef (85/15 recommended)
2 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely grated
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

Place a large heavy-bottomed skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer.
Add the ground beef, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula.
Sear the beef until fully browned with no visible pink remaining.
Add the broccoli florets and a splash of water to the skillet, covering briefly to steam until bright green and tender-crisp.
Remove the cover, add the soy sauce, and stir to incorporate the flavors thoroughly.
Turn off the heat and stir in the grated ginger and toasted sesame oil to preserve their aromatic qualities.
Serve immediately.

Notes

Use a heavy-bottomed pan to prevent uneven cooking.
For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
