Handheld breakfast treats with golden-crisp edges and molten Nutella filling, made in an air fryer for crispy texture. Soft bread, sweet Nutella, and a caramelized egg wash create the perfect combo of crunch and creaminess.
4 slices white bread
4 to 6 tbsp Nutella or similar chocolate hazelnut spread
1 large egg, beaten (or 2 tbsp ground flax + 3 tbsp water)
1 tbsp granulated sugar & cinnamon blend
2 to 4 sprays cooking spray or 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
Flatten bread slices using a rolling pin
Brush one side of each slice with beaten egg or flax gel
Spread 1 to 1.5 tbsp Nutella on 2 of the slices
Sprinkle sugar/cinnamon blend over filling
Top with remaining bread slices, egg-washed sides facing inward to seal
Press gently to compress
Spray both sides with cooking spray or brush melted oil
Place in single layer in air fryer basket
Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 4 to 5 minutes until golden and crispy
Let cool slightly before serving
For best results, use soft sandwich bread. Seal edges firmly to prevent Nutella from oozing. Serve warm with additional Nutella for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
